Yes. Our Nuggets, X Power Squares and Omega Bars contain no gluten. However, our Xocai Gourmet Dark Chocolate solid chocolate is produced on the same machinery as our other products which do contain gluten. All machines are sanitized thoroughly after every single production so this shouldn’t cause a problem for you, but we have a legal obligation to let you know.
We do not put milk or milk proteins into our Nuggets or X Power Squares, however they are manufactured on the same machines that process other products containing milk. All of our equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between runs, but we are still legally obligated to make the statement on our packaging. Nuggets and X Power Squares are still considered a vegan food.
Xoçai Omega Bars contain a trivial amount of milk in the Omega-3 powder. These are considered vegetarian, not vegan.
Xoçai Activ Beverage contains milk in the form of cream. This is considered a vegetarian food, not vegan.
Our Protein Bars are not vegan or vegetarian and also contain milk products.
No, we are considered “All Natural”. The reason for this is because organic ingredients are grown in a controlled environment, while our products are taken from their natural environment.
Yes. Oxalic Acid and oxalates are found in many foods including cocoa, chocolate.
Never. Xoçai Healthy Chocolate uses 100% pure crystalline fructose other wise known as natural fruit sugar. Crystalline and high fructose corn syrup are sometimes mistakenly thought to be one in the same, however this is not true.
Crystalline fructose is a more complex sugar which is safe for consumption by anyone with diabetes, mellitus or hyperglycemia. It does not raise blood glucose or insulin levels and is digested without the use of insulin.
Sucralose is actually made from sugar. However, it contains less calories, is sweeter than sucrose and is safe for consumption by people who are managing their diabetes, hyperglycemia and mellitus. You can read more about Sucralose on the official website:
www.sucralose.org.
Additional information is available on the FDA’s website at www.fda.gov where it states: "In determining the safety of sucralose, FDA reviewed data from more than 110 studies in humans and animals. Many of the studies were designed to identify possible toxic effects including carcinogenic, reproductive and neurological effects. No such effects were found, and FDA's approval is based on its finding that sucralose is safe for human consumption."
Health Canada (http://hc-sc.gc.ca) has also done their own studies and have concluded that: "In Canada, food additives such as artificial sweeteners are subject to rigorous controls under the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations. New food additives (or new uses of permitted food additives) are only permitted once a safety assessment has been conducted and regulatory amendments have been enacted.
"Several artificial sweeteners have been approved for use in Canada. These include acesulfame-potassium, polydextrose, sucralose, thaumatin and sugar alcohols (polyols) like sorbitol, isomalt, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol and xylitol."
Soy protein is an excellent source of all natural protein and is found in our protein bars only. There is no Soy Protein added to any other product. The allergen statement shows “May Contain” or “Contains” Soy because SOY is one of the 6 major allergens determined by the FDA and USDA in the 2006 Allergen Label Law that took effect January 1, 2006.
Soy is common ingredient used in the manufacturing process of lecithin and there may be very small amounts used even in a flavoring system. The allergen statement is required for protection of children and adults suffering from severe allergies and should not be considered part of the ingredient declaration. There is no SOY added unnecessarily. This holds true for “Milk” as well. A disclosure is needed because some of our ingredients may contain trace amounts of cream extracts or other milk derivatives.
You can find out more about soy and soy protein here and here.
Xoçai uses collagen from the Deep Sea Bass and is made up of 98% protein. It is an extremely good source of healthy, natural protein that works very well in our formula.
Collagen is the primary building block protein of your skin, nails, bones, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. By hydrolyzing it, the fish collagen becomes more easily absorbed by your body. It can be used to treat skin disorders and is often used to help athletes recover from injuries. (Wikipedia.org) Hydrolyzed fish collagen is beneficial for anyone with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and is helpful for anyone who is looking to loose weight.
Absolutely not. We needed to rewrite our allergy statement on our 2nd generation of X Power Squares packaging. Due to an oversight, when the new packaging came out one of the ingredients read “sugar” instead of “Raw Cane Juice Crystals”. The label will be corrected in the next run of X Power Squares. Xoçai only uses Raw Cane Juice Crystals (or Crystalline) in our products. We apologize for the misprint on our labels and any inconvenience it may have caused.
No. Our product just calls for “purified water” which means you should use bottled water instead of tap water. We recommend room temperature, but you can use cold if you like. If you would prefer “hot chocolate,” you can also heat it up since the ORAC value in our chocolate can survive temperatures over 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit).
How thick or thin you want it is a matter of taste. To create a slightly thinner shake pour a cap-full into a glass or container (Make sure you drink it - don’t waste any!) and fill the bottle the rest of the way, shake and refridgerate again. After some experimenting we discovered that refrigeration makes the sweetness of the berries come out more.
Another idea: Add your favorite berries, rice/soy milk and some ice to make a smoothie! You can chop, blend and whip it all you want – the antioxidants will still be there.
Keep in mind that when we say “processing” we aren’t talking about the unhealthy processing that other foods are put through. We use “cold press” techniques which reserve the freshness and nutrition of our products. Also, our “processing” usually involves adding some additional healthy ingredients to make sure that we have a well-balanced formula that is perfect and pure.
How a Xoçai product is “processed” depends on what it is.
- Activ is the least processed product. It is all-natural; and the cocoa powder is non-alkalized, non-lecithinized, and cold-pressed to remove about 75% of the fat content. It is the lowest per serving in fat, carbohydrate content, and calories.
- The Nuggets also contain non-alkalized, non-lecithinized, and cold pressed cocoa powder in the chocolate. However, the Nuggets contain more fat and sugar (even though the sugar is all-natural).
- The Omega Bars are made from the same chocolate as the Nuggets; however, we add 200 mg of Omega-3 from a vegetable source.
- The Protein Bars are made from the same cocoa powder that is used in the Activ product, but we include 10 grams of protein to make the product suitable for a meal replacement.
No. Chocolate companies use caffeine in their chocolate to enhance the taste since their processes usually take most of the natural taste out. However a natural ingredient that does exist in cocoa is Theobromine which is a stimulant. Although the two chemicals are related they are very different and react differently with our bodies. Below is a chart which marks those differences:

No this is incorrect. One of our discontinued products contained the sweetener, but we no longer use it. The new source of sweetener is being published in all our new literature.
Absolutely. All of our chocolates are tested for heavy metals. We can assure you that the only metal you will find in our chocolate is iron which is highly beneficial to your body!
Yes, MXI Corp is committed to negotiating fair and competitive compensation to our supplying farmers. Also, we ensure that all of our producers pay their employees fair wages and provide safe working conditions.
Of course. MXI Corporation’s cocoa beans are harvested from small family-owned farms in order to ensure that child labor laws are upheld and that there are no pesticides used.
Yes. They are audited by government organizations as well as a private one.
Yes. The Nuggets and Omega Bars are BCK (Brittish Columbia (Canada) Kosher) Certified. This information will appear on our next generation of packaging.
No. Xoçai Nuggets are not made with any artificial colors, flavors preservatives or sweeteners. They are considered a "Clean Product."
No, there was an error in some of our literature which has been addressed. The process is not a heat roasted process, but instead a cold-pressed process which allows the beans to retain their powerful antioxidants.
